The PRERAK organization started its work to mitigate certain problems emphasizing upon the women, indigenous group and disabled section of the society. The organization believes that the development is not merely the socio economic growth rather development of people influencing their values and attitude for healthy and harmonious living with dignity. PRERAK has the conviction that awareness, people’s active participation and the mutual cooperative action are the key factors to achieve sustainable development. So the organization puts its effort to share the knowledge, skills with individual , group, communities to work directly or indirectly with different plans and programs for the achievement of the socio economic, cultural, educational ,political development. All most all the people for whom we work belong to indigenous, other socially deprived communities, women and especially for the disabled the most disadvantaged section of the society through different plans and programs.

Tribal Rights, forest land recognition
Under Peoples Empowerment through Accessing Rights on Forest, Land and Water & Sustainable Livelihood Practices (PESL) project the organization focuses of the Forest Rights Act which includes Community Forest Rights and individual Forest Rights for the Forest dwellers and other Traditional Forest dwellers in 320 villages of 10 districts of Chhattisgarh. The organization is fighting for the rights of forest dwelling communities. Total number of 56 claims of CFR has been awarded for the year 2020. People of these communities are being aware for their Forest rights. Along with that the organization is helping in accessing their rights by the medium of Community Forest Rights, Individual Forest Rights, and Habitat Rights. With that the organization is also trying to provide fair price and market for the NTFP collections done by the communities. The community is being continuously educated by the medium of regular meetings in which they are educated about the importance of the natural resources which we use in our daily lives. The community is being aware on the hazardous effects on environment due to mining activities in the various locations of the project area. The minimize the effects of deforestation there, has been continuous efforts for Plantation on claimed Community Forest lands, individual lands, in the school campus, besides road side area and in the village boundary along with empty lands and in forest area also. Seed collection is also done on a large scale and it is being exchanged. Food festivals are organized to raise awareness among community for understanding of nutritional values in the community.
The community is also being aware by the medium of exposure visit to the locations where Community Forest Rights have been awarded and how they are skilled in the management of the forest. By the medium of the above mentioned activities the organization is trying to connect the communities to the social inclusion.
Livelihood Promotion
Sustainable Agricultural Development
The organization puts its effort to promote the agriculture and its practices to upgrade the economic condition of the rural tribes who completely depends upon agriculture and forest produce for their livelihood. For the promotion of the agriculture and to raise up the agricultural productivity, Vasundhara – the organic agriculture study and training centre was established with the effort of the organization. PRERAK through this institute concentrates all its efforts to promote the agriculture and its productivity by arranging certain training program of modern techniques of cultivation as well as carryout certain study in the field of agriculture for the purpose of raising the productivity with less input. In regular interval PRERAK organizes certain training program through the VASUNDHARA to disseminate knowledge on how to yield more by adopting the simple and less expensive organic and modern agricultural practices. Under this institute lots of training programs are organized in regular interval to promote the agriculture and its practices among the poor farmer. The main objectives of the organization are to promote the agriculture and its productivity in order to bring a sustainable economic condition for the rural farmer. Various activities like training on modern SRI technology of cultivation, Preparation of organic compost, seeds bank management etc are conducted. Besides this in order to meet the water need of the rain fed land for cultivation the village farmer are encouraged for earthen check dam, lift irrigation, land leveling, Nalabunding etc. Market facilities for the agricultural products are also arranged.
Sustainable Tribal Livelihood
Another Project STL- Sustainable Tribal Livelihood is being implemented in the Gariyaband district. The organization is providing livelihood opportunity to the beneficiaries from the 21 villages of Gariyaband block. In which the community is being provided with the opportunity for Goatry, Puoltry and Fishery. Along with that the organization provided seed support to 125 beneficiaries for paddy cultivation, 125 for Mixed Crop Farming and 200 female beneficiaries for Kitchen Garden every year for promoting organic farming with indigenous seeds. The basic concept for the Kitchen Gardening is to ensure availability of vegetables in their daily routine which provides continuous nutritional values in their daily consumption. Thus the total number of beneficiaries are supported every year is around 500 beneficiaries. Apart from that the organization believes in the capacity building for the beneficiaries through various training programs, Capacity building programs, and Awareness programs for sustainable development of the community. The training programs are based of ecological farming, trainings on Goatry, Fishery and Poultry, Seed bank management, Adoption planning on Climate change are the focus area for the community to be self reliant.
Old Age Home
The noble initiative conducted by the organization is Siyan Seva Sadan (Old age Home) which is being run in Bhilai of Gariyaband district. The old age home facilitates to the 25 old age people who are helpless and hapless. It is our moral responsibility to look after to the older persons who have no source of income now and who have been left by their own families. The Old age home is having facilities with fooding and staying, medical services, Health Facilities and counseling and proper attention is given to the individuals.
Conservation of Natural Resources
Through the program “People’s Empowerment through Regeneration, Conservation, Protection of Natural Resources for Sustainable Livelihood”. The prime objective to this program is to protect and conserve the natural resources of livelihood of the indigenous group as well as to empower them through various meeting and camps to utilize their rights for the protection of their rights granted under constitution of India.
In order to build the capacity of the ignorant tribal people for the proper implementation of the various plans and programs they are made understand about the various laws and acts like PESA, FRA, NREGA etc through various legal camps and training and meetings.
Management and Conservation of Natural Resources: To uplift socio-economic condition of the tribal people various activities are undertaken to preserve the natural resources of livelihood. Activities like – protection of jungle from fire, up gradation of the jungle through plantation, conservation water bodies, preservation of the traditional forest produce through nursery, storage and marketing facility of the forest produce, preservation of the medicinal plant etc.
Awareness and Organization:
PRERAK organizes various meetings, seminars, discussions, legal camps and talks in order to raise the awareness in the various sectors.
